In answer to your question about the story telling, it would most definitely not be as accurate as written down facts. Think of a game of Chinese whispers and how easily such a small sentence can be changed by word of mouth to something completely different. Also all the historical things that are written in the bible would take an extremely good memory to take it all in. Although you do still have a point, I don't think that it could have all could have been passed on. Thanks for the comment Tanuj.
