3rd Focus Question Monday, Feb 23 2009

“What current real life story do you think could be used as a parable to teach a specific beatitude for Christian followers?”

Real life stories that are always current but hardly ever discussed among the public, much less on the news. These stories are those of the Christian martyrs. One such story that I will expose is the story of Cassie Bernall. She was shot dead at the columbine shooting. All she did to deserve her death was the simple confirmation “Yes, I believe in God.”

Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2nd Focus Question Monday, Feb 23 2009

“If you were given the opportunity to write a chapter for the bible what would you write about? What messages would you want your readers to take away?

If I could write a chapter of the bible, I think that I would write a letter concerning all youths. In this letter I would outline many of the issues that they face today and give them advice on how to deal with them, but not on their own. They would need to pray and seek God’s will. I would also write about how Jesus was once a teenager and would have had the same problems, I would give examples of these.

I would want the readers to take away the messages of hope, perseverance and encouragement. Hope because many adolescents face depression and have little hope for a brighter way, I would write to help them pull through and start looking for the light rather than just sitting back and believing there is no light. Perseverance because often the road to salvation is tough and at times you feel like giving up all together. They need to keep going no matter what else is happening around them, they must continue their journey. Lastly, encouragement because if you dont receive encouragement you can easily think that you are not doing the right thing, which can make you stop it altogether. They need to be encouraged to do the right thing and continue doing it.

What if the Bible were never written? Sunday, Feb 8 2009

If the bible were never written then the following things would not be known worldwide:

  1. The history of the Israelites
  2. Jesus’ life and teachings
  3. The Acts of the Apostles
  4. Paul’s missions and letters
  5. Revelations
  6. Other various books of the bible (I will not name them)

Although, along with all these important Christian documents, the most important thing that would not be around is the Word of God. This is instrumental for the Christian faith as it provides encouragement, direction, hope, teaching and the life, death and resurrection of our Lord.

Without the Bible, Christians would be lost.
